explaining acoustic speaker cloth

Description

When it comes to acoustics we usually talk about two totally different kind of cloths and/or textiles that are used as acoustic cloth.

1. Sound-absorbing acoustic cloth
These textiles were developed free rooms from resonance and/or filter unwanted frequence. These cloths are used for sound studios, seminar rooms, offices, apartments, and event locations.

2. Sound-transmissible (sound neutral) acoustic cloth

This kind of cloth is used, among others, in the Hifi and car-Hifi sector. Many manufacturers of speakers refer to knitted acoustic cloths which – because of their wide stitches – result in almost 100% sound transmissiblility. In the car-Hifi sector these cloths are used for rear parcel shelves and doorboards to hide and protect the speakers behind. Sound-absorbing boards (sound absorbers) are often covered with acoustic cloth to change the optics without having an influence on sound absorption. "Real" acoustic cloth consists of 100% polyester and is used for complex plastic procession in trunks (show car). All you have to do is cover a wooden frame with acoustic cloth, then treat this surface with polyester resin and glass-fibre reinforced plastic mats (GRP mats).

In our shop you'll find the sound-transmissible acoustic cloths in different colors and measurements.
