Description for Speaker Cloth 2.0 DIN 4102/B2, water-repellent, 80cm wide, by the metre
Also available in 39 other colours for orders of 92 metres or more.
Width: 80 cm
This Speaker Cloth is suitable for covering speakers, soundboards, doorboards, sound absorbers, speaker frames and much more.
The flame-retardant and water-repellent covering fabric offered here is hard-wearing and can also be pulled around "hard" corners without getting a run.
Very high sound permeability is guaranteed with this covering fabric thanks to the open knitting technique. Unwanted sound losses in the mid and high frequencies are avoided or minimised.
The weave of our Speaker Cloth is "open-pored". This means that the colours of the fabric are influenced differently by the background and the angle of incidence of the light.
This covering fabric is supplied by the metre or in rolls.

Processing and Materials
They are acoustically transparent and suitable for a wide range of applications, including speaker coverings, wall panels, and studio construction.
Each fabric is carefully produced to ensure optimal acoustic performance while maintaining an attractive appearance.
In these FAQs, you can learn more about the material composition, technical properties, care instructions, and processing methods of our fabrics.
Frequently asked questions and answers:
Can I sew your speaker cloth?
Speaker fabric from Akustikstoff.com is easy to sew.
It can be processed without difficulty using a standard sewing machine, a strong needle and high-quality polyester thread.
The fabric is dimensionally stable, flexible, and tear-resistant, making it easy to achieve clean seams for hems, joins, or creative applications.
If several fabric panels are to be sewn together to increase the overall width, we recommend having this done by a professional workshop or tailor. This ensures that the seams run straight and the material remains evenly and properly tensioned.Does the speaker cloth develop runs?
In principle, any knitted fabric can develop a run if handled improperly.
However, the speaker cloth from Akustikstoff.com is extremely robust, and under normal use or during installation – including stapling – this does not happen. Runs can only occur if significant force is applied by pulling or stretching the cut edge.
With normal handling, the fabric remains stable and keeps its shape.Does Akustikstoff.com restore my old speaker grilles?
We’re sorry, but we do not offer restoration services. We only supply the perfect fabric for restoring vintage speakers. Please contact a local specialist, such as a carpenter, upholsterer, or speaker service, and simply ask them to use our fabric in the colour and quality you have chosen.
Can i use Akustikstoff.com speaker cloth as a curtain?
Spesker cloth from Akustikstoff.com is originally designed as a covering fabric for speakers, wall or ceiling frames.
However, some of our customers have told us that they have successfully used the fabric as a sound-transparent curtain or room divider.
Acoustics and Signal Transmission
In this FAQ section, you’ll find answers to topics such as acoustic transparency, infrared signal transmission, visual opacity, and ultrasound behaviour.
Learn how the fabric performs when used in front of loudspeakers, absorbers, sensors, or remote-control receivers, and how to use it effectively in your project.
Frequently asked questions and answers:
How opaque is the speaker fabric?
The lighter the fabric colour and the stronger the light from the front or back, the more visibly the background may show through.
Darker colours are more opaque than lighter ones, and increasing the distance to the background helps reduce visible shine-through.
The degree of tension also plays a role: if the fabric is stretched very tightly, the mesh opens slightly, increasing visual transparency.
If you need maximum opacity, you can also install the fabric in two layers – with an extremely small impact on acoustic performance. However, be mindful during installation to avoid Moiré effects.
You can find further information on the opacity of speaker fabric in this blog article.Does My Infrared Remote Control Work Through Your Speaker Cloth?
Yes, in most cases infrared remote controls work without problems through the acoustic fabric from Akustikstoff.com.
The fabric is sufficiently infrared-transparent, so IR signals from remote controls reliably pass through.
Only with multiple layers or a steep angle between transmitter and receiver may the range slightly decrease.
If you want to be completely certain, simply test the remote control briefly before final installation – this ensures your setup works perfectly. How Well Does Sound Pass Through Your Speaker Cloth?
The acoustic fabric from Akustikstoff.com is designed so that sound waves pass through almost unhindered. It is acoustically transparent and causes only minimal attenuation, even in sensitive high-frequency ranges. Even when used in multiple layers, its impact on sound remains low. For good reason, many renowned speaker manufacturers across Europe and worldwide trust our products.
You too can use our grille fabrics to elegantly cover speakers, sound absorbers, or technical equipment without any loss in sound quality.
Looking for precise, informative measurements? Sound transmission charts are available directly in the product pages of our online shop under the “Features” tab in “Acoustic Measurements”.
Sizes and Measurements
Whether you need just a small piece for a speaker grille or several metres for a wall covering, Akustikstoff.com provides fabric by the metre, pre-cuts, and rolls, all in consistently high quality.
In these FAQs, you’ll find all information about available fabric widths, cuts, stretch, and processing tolerances.
Frequently asked questions and answers:
I need much wider speaker fabric sheets – can Akustikstoff.com supply them?
For production reasons, Akustikstoff.com’s speaker cloth cannot be manufactured in wider widths.
If you need to cover larger areas, you can precisely join or sew several panels together. However, it’s often better to use several narrower frames instead of one large panel – the fabric is easier to handle, there’s less risk of uneven tension, and the overall result will look cleaner and more professional.
